Do you not know that in a race all the runners run, but only one gets the prize? Run in such a way as to get the prize. Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.
— 1 Corinthians 9:24-27
Not a lot of time today, but I want to encourage you to run your race toward the cross with great energy and ambition. Sometimes this life is not easy. Sometimes you need pit stops. Sometimes you want desperately for someone you love to love Jesus the way you do. Sometimes your heart is pounding and your legs can’t carry you for one more step. This is exactly why we have the treasures of God’s Word and prayer. My prayer for you and me today is that He will give us everything we need to run the race and finish STRONG! It’s ALL worth it!
All around me I see people who need you desperately. Use me to help bring them to you. And on the days when I need a pit stop – when I’m weary and out of breath and hopeless – give me an extra measure of your grace, Father. I can’t run this race without you.
In Jesus’ Name,
